Melania Trump Needs a Reality Check

The wrong words, at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons.

hy did I do it? Why open a letter posted on The White House page from Melania Trump? Before 2016, when I saw the name Trump, I knew someone was about to take money from me. Now when I see the name — it is so much worse. It takes my reason, my sanity, my happiness. Yet, I keep opening that damn door and rolling the dice. This time was no different.

“As your First Lady, it has been inspiring to witness firsthand what the people of our great Nation will do for one another, especially when we are at our most vulnerable.”

I think she means “to”, what the people of our nation will do to each other. Most importantly, what men like her husband are willing to do to people when they are vulnerable.

She goes on to say:

“With nearly every experience I have had, I found myself carrying many individual’s stories home with me in my heart.”

And that sounds like a lovely sentiment until she lists who exactly is in her heart. Yeah, you guessed it. The folks who died committing an act of terror, the capitol police they beat on, and the officer they murdered. Hey, neat unrelated fact: over 350,000 people are dead of a virus her husband failed to manage. 4,000 that very day. Totally unrelated. Don’t know why that popped into my head. A few thousand sizes too small, I guess.

Then she admits she is disappointed and disheartened with what happened last week. Y’know, when her husband incited an insurrection. NBD. Now, here is the full quote:

“I am disappointed and disheartened with what happened last week. I find it shameful that surrounding these tragic events there has been salacious gossip, unwarranted personal attacks, and false misleading accusations on me — from people who are looking to be relevant and have an agenda — ”

I’m just going to stop here to point out that she is disappointed and disheartened by a police officer being beaten to death while a bunch of Trump supporters committed acts of terror and aggression on our government, but salacious gossip and personal attacks? Tsk fucking Tsk, that is shameful.

And yes, Melania, you’re right. This is all totally about you.

he calls for people to unite, to rise above division. The problem is everyone around her, including her, is responsible for this division. They profited off of it. Division put her in the house she is in for (maybe) ten more days. Trump is a vampire for division, sucking it out, feeding until he is full, and then spitting it into the mouths of his followers like some fucked up division spewing Big-Bird into the beaks of his beer-soaked baby-birds.

On to:

“It is inspiring to see that so many have found a passion and enthusiasm in participating in an election, but we must not allow that passion to turn to violence.”

I’m gonna let that just sink in.

Has it stained yet?

I mean — seriously? If I truly, to my core, believed that a cabal of Satan worshipping pedophiles was in charge of my country. If I 100% believed that an election had been stolen from a man who I believed was the one who would save me, my family, and my country, from a promised dystopia, I would have been right there in those riots. (Eating a hot dog in the back because I’m a total wimp.) Passion and enthusiasm turned to violence because of the rhetoric her family propagated. Why is she not sending this letter in an email chain to her family instead of putting it out into the world?

And the kicker:

“As I said over the summer, it is these defining moments that we will look back and tell our grandchildren that through empathy, strength, and determination, we were able to restore the promise of our future.”

No, we will look back on this moment with shame, embarrassment, and horror. We will look back and wonder how neo-Nazis walked through the halls of congress carrying confederate flags. Oh wait, we won’t have to wonder. We know why.

he letter continues on with more weak-kneed come-together-patriotism-in-a-blender. It is such a misguided letter. If inspiring words can feed the soul, this letter has the nutritional value of a rock. The people around Trump should be turning inward, reflecting on their actions, how they brought the country to this point, and figuring out how to make up for everything they have done. More importantly, they should be doing everything they can internally to make sure no more damage is done. Want to help the American people? Talk to your husband, get him a warm glass of milk, change his diaper, and put him in a cab home so we can all maybe, as you say, “come together, find our commonalities, and be the kind and strong people that I know we are.”
